Can my child try a dance class before registering?

Yes. Parents can request a trial dance class before committing to the full program. Complete the trial request form and we’ll send you the next steps for creating or accessing your Afiwi parent account and completing the trial registration.

What age can children start dance classes at Afiwi?

Accepted Answer

Afiwi offers dance programs for children starting at age 4. Mini Soca is designed for ages 4–5, while our Junior, Intermediate and Senior programs provide African and Caribbean dance options for older children and youth.

Does my child need previous dance experience?

Accepted Answer

No. Afiwi welcomes children with different levels of dance experience, including beginners. Our goal is to help students build confidence, coordination, creativity and cultural connection while developing their dance skills at an appropriate level.

Where are Afiwi dance classes located?

Afiwi’s youth dance classes are held at Afiwi Groove School, 1895 Clements Road, Unit 102, Pickering, Ontario L1W 3V5. The location serves families in Pickering and surrounding Durham Region communities.

Afiwi offers a variety of African and Caribbean dance classes in Pickering, including Soca, Caribbean dance, West African dance, Afro-Urban and Afro-Ballet. Programs are available for different age groups, so families can find a class that matches their child’s interests and stage of development.

How do I register after the trial?

Accepted Answer

After submitting your trial request, you’ll receive instructions by email explaining the next steps. You’ll use Afiwi’s registration system to create or access your parent account, add your child and complete registration for the appropriate dance class.
